Excursion Day 7 Monday, Sept 7 - 07.09.2015- time to say goodbye
... and return to Davenport to pick up my bike and continue the ride east. Next stop: Cleveland, Ohio!
Excursion Day 6 - Chicago
In the morning we again took the train from Franklin Park to Union Station in Chicago and after a nice walk through downtown we suddenly found out that we had just missed the train to the museum about 8 miles away. We tried a bus, that didn't work out and we found ourselves running for a mile (and me in my "cycling legs mode"!) to catch the bus which didn't come. We ran (literally!) back to the train station for the next train and finally got to the Museum of Science and Industry which I had last seen in 1996 and which had impressed me then very much because of its hands-on philosophy. We were impressed by the Robotics exposition and my son, working in robotics himself, explained many interesting details!

Our first stop on Thursday was the Moraine View State Park in Illinois on our path to Chicago. (See: http://dnr.state.il.us/lands/landmgt/PARKS/R3/Moraine.htm ) where we went on a 3 hour hike around the lake before we continued up to Chicago.
After settling into our motel we took the train downtown and had a good look at the skyscrapers and then went up to the Skydeck on the "Willis Tower" formerly known to many (and myself) as the "Sears Tower". The crowds were amazing but the views were even more so! What beautiful scenery up there from there. (http://theskydeck.com/)
