Day 66 - Avery, OH to Rocky River, OH, Sept 16, 2015
10 - 27
Even the loudest night ends at dawn and after a short ride with some early views of steaming haystacks and foggy fields I reached Huron on Lake Erie. Hw 6 led me along the shore and in Vermilion I stopped to have a look at the Maritime Museum. Unfortunately this had moved to Toledo so I enjoyed the calm empty sun-drenched beach instead and got into a convrsation with a diver who told me about the many shipwrecks before the coast just waiting to be explored.
The limitations of my Gaemin made me leave the coast too early at Sheffield which led me in a criss-crossing tour to Rocky River trying to avoid the Interstate which the gps again and again tried to send me on ... I got a look at the impressive assembly plant of Ford and eventally reached Rocky River where I was warmly received by Mike, Dianna and their sons Michel and Alex. Dear reader, please forgive me if this journal will take a break for a few days in order to enjoy the things the coming days will bring along ...
The amount of plastic used and discarded without recycling during a simple breakfast meal of pancakes and oatmeal is frightening. Before ...
... and after the meal! Into the rubbish and into the landfill (if we're lucky!)
Fertilizing the good old way!
Just an example of the typical family home in this area. Some include a huge motorhome or RV van plus a boat on a trailer.
... delightful to see that at the moment I am many thousand miles away from school!
My first glimpse of Lake Erie, no land visible on the far side!
Ok,maybe I shouldn't have published this!
The lalkefront seems almost completely privately owned with very few public access sites.
Beautiful shoreline house
