Day 2 (of riding) 109 km, 651 m alt. (hey, almost like yesterday - but that will change as of tomorrow 😉 )  July 7, 2015 Leaving the 35$-campsite I was wondering if that will be the rate for every night ... It was good, but not that good. In Europe that price would give you a first class site with electricity and fresh water on every site included. No electricity, the showers were dirty and in a bad state and no place to clean your dishes. In fact, it was forbidden to clean your dishes anywhere at a penalty! The only explanation is that cyclists and other campers without a house on wheels are just not welcome. Avoiding Highway 7, the "natural" road to Hope for the first 50 km, I finally reached  Hatzic on HW 7 where I spent an hour on a Subway-sandwich and their wifi ... After 70 km I reached Aggassiz (I learned it is pronounced like the tennis player's name), where I had a  blueberry pie with ice cream and a coffee,  very nice .... Then it was only another 38 km to Hope. I expect Dave would say "Hey man, that's too much right  at the start"  and I must say he would probably be right. But I feel well and tomorrow is the start into the mountains. My gear is now even heavier since I've put in some provisions in case I have to camp out in the open ... Ya veremos ...

This helpful guy went out of his way to evaluate my options as to where exactly to camp - in Aggassiz or in Hope - I opted for Hope - only another 38 km

  1. 109k – yep well done! I knew you were far too fit for the likes of me! I was concerned about all the wood smoke, as there is a lot in Vancouver. Hopefully it will clear up for you soon.
